Sean Daly & the Shams + Vince Keehan & the Toast Inspectors

We had a wonderful night celebrating St Patrick’s Day at the Haight Street Art Center with Sean Daly and the Shams and our openers Vince keehan and the Toast Inspectors.

There was laughs, tears and just a few drinks as we enjoyed some craic agus ceol from the old country. Shaun O’Sullivan, from our sponsor 21st Amendment Brewery, was also on hand to regale all with tales of his angling prowess on Lough Mask in Mayo and we had our annual lesson on why it’s St Paddy’s Day and NOT St Patty’s Day.

The Shams provide listeners with a new, hard-hitting perspective on the evolution of Irish music, unlike any you’ve heard before. With each fiery live performance, the group leaves listeners begging for more

Video: Zoo Station + Eoin Harrington w/ Dick Bright – Paddy’s Day Special

Tons of wonderful music with a healthy dose of humor and lashings of 21st Amendment’s St Patrick O’Sullivan’s Irish Red Ale made for a great Paddy’s Day celebration at the Haight Street Art Center in San Francisco.

Eoin Harrington kicked the night off, his soulful Irish voice given a lovely lift with the addition of the legendary Dick Bright on fiddle. They played a bunch of traditional Irish tunes, one original and finished with a rousing version of Steve Earle’s “Galway Girl”.

Headliners Zoo Station have been the Bay Area’s premiere U2 tribute band for over a decade. Bonalmost, the Sledge, Adamesque and Barely Larry treated the crowd to rare stripped down performances of favorites like “Desire”, “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “Vertigo”. A perfect way to close out a perfect evening.

Celebrate the season with a fun evening of art, music, laughter and beer…does it get any more Irish than that?

Start the evening from 6-7pm with our complimentary wine and beer happy hour in the downstairs gallery featuring selections from Whetstone’s Wine Cellars and 21st Amendment’s special St Patrick O’Sullivan’s Irish Red Ale on tap. While sipping your adult beverages you’ll get to enjoy the exhibit ARTIFACTS: The Rock Art of EMEK – A Career Retrospective. Emek has created much coveted posters for musicians such as Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie, The Pixies and Paul Simon.

At 7pm we’ll take the party upstairs where you’ll be treated to the pioneers of traditional Irish West Coast gangsta rap, South Centra. Founding members Fifty Pence and Take ‘er Easy E not only explain how rap was really born on the wild Atlantic coast of Ireland but how it was stolen by the likes of NWA and Tupac.

Our headliners are Zoo Station, the Bay Area’s premiere U2 tribute band who’ll be performing a rare stripped down acoustic set. Since 2002, this talented force has delivered the visual, musical and spiritual thrill of a U2 concert to bars, clubs, outdoor festivals, private parties and corporate events along the West Coast of America. Singer Bonalmost leads the show, flying high with the vocal strength and confidence of Bono’s The Joshua Tree days. The Sledge showers thick layers of effectual guitar work over crowd as Adamesque on bass and Barely Larry on the drums deliver the pounding heartbeat of some of modern rock’s most memorable songs.
